Understanding One's Limitations

In the pursuit of a particular goal, we must take the time to understand the journey of this exploration. Each person must develop a plan to ensure success but also prepare and accept setbacks in achieving that goal. Life is a constant battle between the realms of reality. The internal and the external world are in a constant battle; while we seek growth and development in our internal spirit. The world is in constant flux to counter your own reality. Some believe that man's own interference has conditioned us to fail; however, is man responsible for the rain that showers over his head? Is man responsible for the sun that dries the rain, but causes death if trapped in its gaze without water.

It's important to understand the limitations of our world as we seek to discover the achievement that are obtainable in our own reality. Should we interfere in the natural realm of life? Do our decisions effect a change or does staying neutral create a change and bring forth a new reality. These things have NO business in the mind of the martial artist. Understanding one's place in the universe should be the task in order to find peace in both realms of reality. Being in control of oneself is the most effective way in handling the obstacles in life. Never to worry about the reaction but to allow the natural world to discover it's own path.

IE: You see a butterfly emerge from a cocoon and fly into the air. The wind blows and the butterfly flies into a spider web and is stuck, sitting in that web is a spider egg and a spider. At your feet lies a long stick that could be used to free the butterfly. What do you do? A) Save the butterfly with the stick. Physical World Reaction: The web is destroyed and the spider eggs might be lost or destroyed. B) Allow the spider to kill the butterfly in order to feed the unhatched spiders in the future. Physical World Reaction: The spiders are born with food to eat in order to live.

Things to Consider! What did Nature do? Was the butterfly born under that tree for a reason? Did the wind blow, so that the butterfly would fly into the web? Did the branch fall on at that spot wear you are sitting for a reason?

These things will never be known because they are beyond our control. The best course of action is to seek control only what you can control. Action or no action will still lead to the realm of the unknown realities. One must understand the limitations in our decisions so we might be in peace with the result.
To save the butterfly might destroy the eggs, but the spider might be able to lay more eggs in the future. The butterfly, although was saved, will only have life for several days and the spider that fell from the web may not survive it's fall. So in that interference, to choose one existence over the possibility of another, still created another reality without any further input from the decision.

As a martial artist we must seek to understand our role in our own reality, when placed on the forked path of this world. To be disappointed about the result is a waist of energy! Instead, one should embrace the struggle and be happy; because without the struggle there can be no reward!
